Inter-Provincial/Regional Action Plans

The Indonesian Team leads the liturgy at the end of Day 1

At the end of the Trade Fair on Day 3 (8 August 2010), the following ACTION PLANS were drawn up.  Please refer them for future action.

Australia

1. For Indonesia

Objectives: To assist with Campus Ministry set-up

Action Plans:

  • Tom Renshaw to send Faith formation materials to Mintara. Ongoing discussions regarding retreats and science programs.
  • Possibility of visit of 2 staff members from Kanisius to Australian schools.

Timeline:

  • Materials to be sent by e-mail by August 2010. Ongoing discussion will follow
  • Possible visit in 2011 (maybe done). Sydney and Melbourne

2. For Micronesia

Objectives: To offer a number of places for students at Jesuit high school for one year, initially Xavier to Xavier. Initially 10th Grade

Action Plans:

  • Tom Renshaw to have discussions at local level and then contact David Andrews and Martin Karl for further discussion

Timeline:

  • Tom to contact David and Martin by September 2010 to continue conversations. Places likely to be available August 2011 – May 2012. (Program Feb to Dec to fit in with Australian school year. 1st Sem – Chuuk, 2nd Sem (Chhuk)/1st Sem Australia

3. For the whole assistancy:

  • To provide electronically the IT template of IPP for subjects, and some sample subjects, particularly in the Maths-Science area
  • To continue offering the advanced teacher program, both within Australia and with teams as requested to other parts of the Assistancy

4. For Indonesia

Student & Teacher Exchange between St. Ignatius Adelaide and Loyola Senior High School, Semerang

Objectives:

  • Language and cultural experience for students
  • Service component for Australian students
  • Experience of campus ministry for Loyola teachers
  • Experience of Ignatian parent workshop for Loyola teachers
  • Language and cultural input for Ignatian teachers

Action Plans

  • Frs. Winandoko and Davoren to e-mail for time lines and project staff

Timeline

  • July to November, 2011

Chinese

1. For Philippines

Exchange Students Program between Mateus Ricci (Macau) and Sacred Heart School (2 weeks)

Objectives:

  • Language learning – English and Putonghua
  • Cultural learning

Timeline:

  • October – November 2010
  • Number of Students: 2010 – 5 students.   2011 – 10 students

2. For Timor Leste

Objectives: To help teachers training in the language proficiency and fine-tuning of Mathematics curriculum.

Action Plan:

  • Three teachers from Timor Leste will visit Hong Kong

Timeline:

  • April 2011 (4-week program)

3. For Indonesia

How to practice IPP in all subjects

Objectives: To set up models of learning in the base of Ignatian Pedagogy

Action Plans:

  • Jesuit Indonesia will find a Jesuit or lay person to go to Hong Kong
  • Attending the Dialogue of Teaching as a Service
  • Setting the model of teaching in the base of Ignatian Pedagogy

Timeline:

  • September 2010

Indonesia

1. For Australia

Objective: Indonesia province will give one semester for gap period for students (after graduation and before university) from Australia in social

services.

Action Plans:

  • Contact person is Fr. Rob Davoren, S.J. (by e-mail to arrange for schedule)

Timeline:

  • Vacation time in 2011

Japan

1. For East Timor

Hope Project (Hope of our Partners in East Timor Project)

Objective: Students of Jesuit schools in Japan set up a scholarship program for the students of St. Joseph high school.

Action plan:

  • Students raise money for scholarship in classrooms every months and each class send it for a specific student of East Timor chosen by St. Joseph’s staff.
  • Fostering friendship between students of both schools is the most important purpose.
  • Also students have contacts on the Internet together.

Time line:

  • Hope Project starts in April 2011.

2. For the Philippines

Objective: Hiroshima will seek the possibility of expanding current exchange program between Ateneo de Manila.

Action Plan:

  • For all high schools
  • Starts AP Life Orientation Program (LOP) for students of Jesuits high schools
  • Each school sends a few students to AP – LOP program. It will be held every two or three years. This program is mixed retreat and leadership training.

Timeline:

  • As soon as possible

Micronesia

1. For JCAP (Fr. Sekine)

Objective: To collaborate with Australia and other provinces/regions in organizing an Assistancy-wide ‘Youth Leadership Day’ for our student leaders

according to the Australian Jesuit schools model.

Action Plans:

  • Contact all schools (secondary) to ascertain interest in this project.
  • Invite our schools to participate

Timeline:

  • 2012 School Year (?)

2. For Indonesia

Objective: To provide input information, activities, programs on Campus Ministry.

Action Plans:

  • Invitation to Indonesian Province to send campus ministers to observe our campus ministry programs, and perhaps participate in campus ministry workshops.
  • Send Fr. Marc Roselli to Indonesia to give workshops on Campus Ministry.

Timeline:

  • Open ended (within the school year or summer time)

Philippines

1.  Offer immersion programs to students and faculty for:  (a) an experience of Catholicism especially for those living in non-Christian countries, (b) for an experience of poverty (service learning), and (c) English-language environment

2.  Draw up details with particular schools for collaborative projects where we can offer/share our resources for teacher training and Ignatian formation on selected topics.

Timor Leste

  1. Timor is interested in immersion program – Australia and Japan

Objectives: Providing an opportunity for students from developed countries to experience life in an under developed countries like Timor Leste.

Action Plan:

  1. Receive visits from Geelong – September 2010
  2. Prepare accommodation – renovate the school guest house or contact some Jesuit network in Timor for the accommodation
  3. Prepare lay teachers for welcoming the guests and the country tour.

Teacher Training  and sharing experience of teaching and life  – Chinese Province

Objectives: To provide opportunities for teachers in building teaching capacities in math, and at the same time practicing/learning English.

Action Plan:

  1. Increase the English language courses for teachers in CSJ – August  2010 – March 2011
  2. Working the details for the program like fund raising for the travel fee.
